Executive Order 55
Subject: Alignment of the Office of Family Safety’s Work and Advisory Structures
WHEREAS, the Domestic Violence Executive Committee was created by an executive order issued by Mayor Karl Dean in 2014 and subsequently renamed the Office of Family Safety Advisory Committee by executive orders issued by subsequent mayors; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Family Safety was established by ordinance as a department of the Metropolitan Government in 2015; and
WHEREAS, the Advisory Committee played an important role during the formative years of the Office of Family Safety and its family safety centers; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Family Safety has expanded and evolved since its establishment; and
WHEREAS, newly passed legislation modernizes and codifies the Office of Family Safety’s mission, structure, powers, and duties; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Family Safety has implemented policies and procedures that fulfill the functions previously served by the Advisory Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Freddie O’Connell, Mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me, do hereby find, direct, and order the following:
Executive Order Number 040 continuing the Office of Family Safety Advisory Committee is hereby repealed.
